Marine Restoration Options: From GOMURC 2012 Collaborative Workshop with Ocean Conservancy

Date: April 24-25, 2012

Venue: USF College of Marine Science, Marine Science Lab Conference Room, St. Petersburg, FL

Purpose: Identify marine restoration and management options that can be used to facilitate the recovery of natural resources and human uses impacted by the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill (BP DHOS) and other sources of degradation to Gulf of Mexico ecosystem resources. Prioritize restoration options that address BP DHOS injuries to marine natural resources and related lost services and help recovery by restoring: ocean habitats (benthic and pelagic) and related services; fishery resources and related services (e.g., fishing); marine wildlife populations and related services; and human uses (e.g., decline in subsistence or personal use of seafood, lost access to recreational fishing grounds).
